Top Roses for Texas
Michael Shoup, owner of
Antique Rose Emporium (http://www.roseinfo.com/)
---and one of my favorite places in the world to spend a day ---
really hated to be tied down to a “top ten” list of the best
old roses. After
twenty years in the rose business, he has become quite attached.
“You must keep in mind that this is like telling someone
who your favorite child is.”
So here is his modified version of a top ten…his favorite
five in each of three categories: large shrub, small shrub,
and climber. Mike
picked these specific varieties based on their versatility,
disease resistance and carefree attitude.
Most are highly fragrant and almost all are repeat
bloomers. And Mike, we won’t tell
the other kids if you don’t!
